Hidden Secrets of Mommyhood!

I read EVERY book I could get my hands on when I was prego. Name books, calendars, how to’s, developmental stages, etc. However, there are some things that you could never prepare yourself for until you have a baby of your own. Decisions that you face, that you never even stopped to think about.
Here are a few, don’t laugh!

1) To what side of the head will you comb your baby’s hair? It might sound stupid, but I promise I feel the weight of this big decision!!! If I comb Gray’s hair to one side, she gets a little lift. If I comb it to the other side, it lays flat. So, what will she want when she’s older? What will be in style when she is styling her hair? Flat of Lift? I am training her “part” for what could be her “part” for the rest of her life.

2) What will be your baby’s style? You might just think that baby clothes are baby clothes, but I promise you are wrong. Will they be preppy, vintage, cartoony, punky, sweet smocked, hippy, trendy? Call me crazy, but I believe that babies have their own style that fits them. I kept all of these smocked dresses with detail for Gray, but when I put them on her, it just didn’t look like her for some reason. To me, Gray’s style is more vintage meets trendy.

3) What to eat? I want to make sure that Gray is healthy. Although if it was up to my brothers, she would have a diet of snickers & cookies! :) I try to always keep fruit, vegetables, yogurt, cheese, raisins, and other healthy snacks around, but I always feel this twinge of “I’m killing my child” if I don’t pay an extra $3 to buy the fruit, vegetables, yogurts and cheeses that are marked “organic”. I mean when I was little, a grape was a grape was a grape, or a carrot was a carrot was a carrot! Not Anymore my Friend! Welcome to the world of looking at labels and scoping out the words “enriched” & “from concentrate”.

***I took Gray outside before nap to get a picture of her in these purple weeds, hhnmm, I mean flowers. She was NOT having it. This was the best she was giving me. THEN, I changed her into play clothes, pulled her hair out of her face, and let her play in the screen in porch while she ate her lunch, and I get fierceness.

More to stress over? Gray is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! Now personally I believe all babies look good in smocked, but you know I am old fashioned. So put her on a smocked dress, give her a chocolate chip cookie and take some pictures hannah bannana! Much love!
