I’m the mother of a 2 year old.

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Two years ago, my ankles were the same size as my thighs; my nose (as my lunch lady so delicately put it..) had “spread”; my gums had swollen so much it messed up my bite (I couldn’t chew spaghetti to save my life..) I had one, ONE pair of flip flops I could fit on my feet; I had to be careful not to lean my feet or legs on anything or I’d put dents in them that would last hours; my belly literally looked like it had an alien inside when Gray moved, because there was NO, NOTTA, ZIP, ZERO space……. They say if you’re having a girl, your beauty is stolen, and with a boy its your brains! I have no clue about the boy, but dang did they hit the nail on the head for me with the girl!

I know its cliche, but it was worth it! The cutest, most precious bundle of blessing & joy all rolled into one made her way into our lives November 2, 2007, which makes me the mother of a 2 year old! Gray Campbell Lockaby.

My favorite Grayisms right now are:
1. Having conversations. They go something like this:
Gray: “Mom, Mom (She has my attention..) SHaowoen awgak oubgad asdiug Shrek, yeah?”
Me: MMmm-hmmm. Shrek.
Gray: Mom, Mom (She has my attention..) Watch this. (Followed by a jump, a kick, a run, or something
dangerous..)
2. Learning the in’s & out’s of her personality. INDEPENDENT!
Example:
Gray is putting her lips on the handlebar of our WalMart shopping cart.
I look and say, “Gray, thats nasty, we don’t put our mouths on this (and point).
Gray looks me straight in the eyes, maintains eye contact the entire time she leans down to lick the handle
bar and give me a smirk.
3. Watching her play babies.
Gray to her babies: “Baby, u poop, yeah?” “Baby, u wan a milk, yeah?”
4. Amazed at how quick they learn. We’ve been counting to ten, so now randomly before doing something dangerous, I’ll here 5, 8, 10…
5. Facial Expressions. She gets them honestly. I caught myself in the mirror giving the mean eye, and I knew exactly where Gray got hers from… She can on cue do silly, sad, happy, laughing, etc.. {See Below for further proof, and these are with a good case of strep throat!}

I love you Gray!
